SO2 Monitoring
There are 18 fixed continuous SO2 monitoring stations, owned by Vale and Xstrata Nickel, located in the Greater Sudbury community. The stations are operated and maintained by Bestech. The data is transmitted on a real-time basis to Vale's ERP Control Room, Nickel DCS and Copper DCS where the screens show recent ground level concentrations (GLCs) of SO2. The values displayed are rolling averages for the past 60 minute, 30 minute and 15 minute periods followed by the most recent two 5 minute intervals.
